Common questions.

How do I report a court is open, busy, or wet?

Open the court detail screen in the app and tap the status button — pick "Walk on," "Short wait," "All taken," or "Rained out." Your report decays after a few hours, and weights other players' reports too, so the live status stays fresh.

Reports are anonymous to other players (your display name doesn't get pinned to the court). The more people report, the higher the confidence score on the home screen.

How do I find someone to hit with?

Two ways:

  1. Tap Looking on any nearby court to broadcast that you want a hit — other players in range see it on their board.
  2. Post on the Board ("3.5 looking Saturday morning, anywhere in the East Village") and neighbors can ping you back.

You'll get push notifications when someone responds. Both kinds of posts expire automatically.

A court near me is missing. Can you add it?

Yes — drop us a note with the court name, address (or a Google Maps link), surface type, and whether it's public, permit, or private. We usually add new courts within a few days.

If you find an existing court with the wrong info (name, surface, court count, lit/permit/indoor flags), the same email works — include the court page link if you can.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This deactivates your account immediately and queues all your personal data for deletion from active databases.

Don't see the option, or want us to do it for you? Send us a request from the address on your account. We may retain a small amount of information to prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, or troubleshoot — full details in our privacy policy.

Why does the app ask for my location?

Your location is how we know which courts to surface — "nearby" only makes sense if we know where you are. We use it for the live court list, hit requests in your radius, and walk-time estimates.

You can change or revoke location access in your device's Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Courted. The app still works with location off, but you'll need to enter a ZIP code manually to see local courts.

See our privacy policy for the full picture on what we collect.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in screen in the app, tap Forgot password and enter your email. You'll get a reset link within a minute or two — check spam if it doesn't show up.

If the email never arrives, write us and we'll trigger one manually.

How do I turn notifications off (or back on)?

iOS: Settings → Notifications → Courted. From there you can mute everything or pick which categories (hit invites, court alerts, match results) to keep on.

In-app, you can also mute individual conversations from the Inbox.

The app crashed / something looks broken.

Sorry about that. Send a quick note with what you were doing right before it happened, your phone model, and (if possible) a screenshot. We'll get on it.

Is NearbyCourt free?

Yes — the core app is free to download and use. There's no paid tier today.
